Where We’ve Been!

There’s a new kid to shoot these days around here — our little baby boy arrived into our lives last week. Welcome Ian Christopher! We are all so happy to have him here, and Sophia is probably the most excited of all. Big sister adores her new little brother.
And of course he’s already had […]

A Little Play-Doh Fun

Sophia looooooves Play-Doh. And lucky for her I just happen to have this set of 100+ cookie cutters that she gets to pull out every time the Play-Doh comes out. I’m a little anal though and usually she only gets to play with one color at a time. Except that one time when she […]

Shooting Kids at the Beach

I’ve learned a thing or two recently from lugging my DSLR and a couple of toddlers down to the beach for a quick photo shoot. I thought I’d share with you some tips to save you a little heartache and hopefully ensure that you’ll end up with some fun memories of the day. (Please note: […]

Friday Foto Fun

Sorry about the cheesy title. Chris suggested it. And, well, I love the cheese. So it stuck.
I’ve not been around the blog lately. But not because I haven’t had any photos to post. I think it’s quite the opposite. I jumped into a personal challenge for 2008 with A Year Of Pictures over at Flickr, […]

Bathtime: A Flashy Experiment

I got a fun new Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash for my D40x DSLR this Christmas, and I’ve been testing it out whenever possible. I have been dying to have an external flash for my camera since I got it this summer–thank you, Santa!
I thought it’d put it to the true test tonight while my […]

Summer Hiatus!

If you haven’t noticed, Shooting the Kids has been on a little (OK, <ahem> not so little) summer break. We’ve been playing at the beach and eating ice cream and staying up late because, well, it’s summer and that’s just what you do! We’re also in the middle of a house move, which is both […]

Amy

Amy has been interested in photography for as long as she can remember. It wasn't until she took a photography course in college, where she vividly remembers spending 8-hour stretches in the dark room, that she finally learned some basic techniques. From there she was hooked. Moving from film to digital has saved her a lot of developing time now that she has a child, not to mention giving her the freedom to get the right shot no matter how many it takes. She is the first to admit that she has a lot to learn about photography -- especially digital -- and hopes to learn just as much as her readers as she researches and writes for this blog. Her number one subject these days is her daughter, Sophia, with the dog, Sarah, running a close second.
